Service Description: The ESIL data set contains lines representing the shoreline and coastal habitats of the Upper Coast of Texas, classified according to the Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) classification system. This data set comprises a portion of the ESI data for the Upper Coast of Texas. ESI data characterize the marine and coastal environments and wildlife by their sensitivity to spilled oil. The ESI data include information for three main components: shoreline habitats, sensitive biological resources, and human-use resources. See also the ESIP (ESI shoreline polygons) and HYDRO (Hydrography lines and polygons) data layers, part of the larger Upper Coast of Texas ESI database, for additional shoreline information. Data symbolized field is Type that is defined by HARC. Disclaimer: This product is for informational purposes only and may not be suitable for legal, engineering, or surveying purposes. It does not represent an official survey and represents only the approximate relative location of features and boundaries. Mapping may not necessarily reflect on-the-ground conditions. This product and those involved in its production make no claims as to the accuracy or reliability of the data, and neither assumes, nor will accept liability for their use.
