The PGMA delineation boundary and purposes are described in the Texas Water Code (TWC), §35.007as areas identified critical groundwater problems within the immediately following 50-year periodcritical groundwater problems including: - Shortages of surface water or groundwater;- Land subsidence resulting from groundwater withdrawal;- Contamination of groundwater supplies, The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality PGMA Program encourages the creation of groundwater conservation districts for those designed areas. For practical information about the PGMA studies and updates, please see the TCEQ website.
